During Georgia’s Regional Final win over Liberty, Tre Phelps crushed a go-ahead 2-run homer in the 6th inning and admired the blast while rounding the bases. After exchanging words and making gestures in the direction of the Liberty dugout/foul territory, umpires ruled the celebration crossed the line and ejected him from the game. Georgia head coach Wes Johnson argued that Phelps was simply acknowledging family members sitting near that area, while Liberty believed the actions were directed at their dugout. The situation escalated, leading to Johnson’s ejection as well. Despite the controversy, Georgia went on to defeat Liberty 6-1 and advance to the Super Regionals. Phelps’ ejection now becomes one of the biggest talking points of the entire Regional round. #NCAABaseball #GeorgiaBaseball #LibertyBaseball #RoadToOmaha #CollegeBaseball
