Tucson and Phoenix both get hit with monsoon storms, but Tucson usually wins when it comes to actual rainfall. 😳🌧️ On average, Tucson gets around 11 inches of rain per year, while Phoenix averages closer to 8 inches. A big reason is Tucson’s elevation and nearby mountain ranges, which help storms build and drop more rain during monsoon season. Phoenix still gets intense storms too, but they can be more scattered across the Valley. Three inches might not sound like a lot, but in the desert, that difference can change how green the city looks, how often washes run, and how much flash flooding certain areas see.
