Another creative voice from Western Avenue, meet Liz Wood in Studio 551. Liz Wood (they/them) is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. In addition to traditional photography, Liz works with handmade photographic processes, collage and sculpture. Their current mixed media project uses their own family photographs printed on fabric and framed within constructed, mirrored shadow boxes. These works are an exploration of memory and the role vernacular photography has within creating family narratives. These narratives and the visual artifacts that help shape them impact the way we interact with our own memories and they allow us to imagine memories we never experienced.
