Gerald “Jerry” Gerash has been a lifelong gay rights activist. He worked at the forefront of the Denver Gay Rights Movement and played an instrumental part in the founding of The Center on Colfax. Jerry was one of the 350 queer people who showed up at a Denver city council meeting on October 23, 1973, to fight the abuse and unjust arrests of queer citizens. Within a month after the revolt, Denver’s city council repealed the four main anti-gay laws that activists sought to remove. ⁠ ⁠ This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Gay Revolt at Denver City Council.
