I’ve been having so many conversations recently that have made me think about the pressure people put themselves under. People who haven’t yet got on the property ladder. People who are relatively comfortable but feel they should have done “better” by now. People who feel they’re somehow behind in life. I think social media has a lot to answer for. We’re constantly exposed to highlight reels of other people’s success, often without seeing the reality behind it. The truth is that life really is harder for many people today. Housing is more expensive, the cost of living is higher and many of the milestones previous generations achieved at a certain age are taking much longer to reach. Of course it’s good to be ambitious and strive for goals whatever they may be . But I don’t think it’s always fair to compare ourselves to previous generations, and definitely not to the carefully curated lives we see online.
