Former University of Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby will be allowed to play for Texas Tech this season, after a Texas judge blocked the NCAA's ruling declaring Sorsby ineligible. In the order filed June 8 in Lubbock County District Court, Judge Ken Curry said Sorsby will not be allowed to play in Texas Tech's first two games this season. Curry also said the temporary injunction is contingent on Sorsby continuing to address his gambling disorder and other mental health issues. The judge said Sorsby would lose out on benefitting from the elite coaching, training resources and camaraderie that only being a member of a Division I college football team can provide.
