The future is now for Cincinnati Reds prospect Edwin Arroyo, but that's partly the case because of the temporary loss of Elly De La Cruz, one of the most important pieces of the Reds' present. Arroyo, ranked the No. 3 prospect in the Reds' farm system, received his long-awaited call-up to join the club's big league team. It's a move that had been anticipated, dissected and discussed for weeks, if not months, but it came as De La Cruz became the club's latest injury victim and went on the 10-day injured last with a right hamstring strain. De La Cruz's June 1 MRI on his right hamstring was necessitated when he exited the prior day's game in the fifth inning after pulling out of his sprint and settling for a single on what might have otherwise been a stand-up double.
