Last night I was welcomed by the amazing folks at the Envision:You Art show! I loved seeing my friend Debbie Sheer, and the fabulous Christopher LeFleur, as well as making tons of new friends!
They invited me to speak about AI art and Gender nonconforming people in mainstream media, comparing how both are invalidated based upon projected personal biases.
AI art is not always considered real, as there is no natural process to creating it. Much as Gender-nonconforming people are invalidated for using medical technology to affirm their gender.
I have been told that I will never be a real woman, and also that I cannot be a believable man. While I may not have created natural art, and I may not have natural feminine attributes, I still am valid in both identities…as an artist and as a person.
We must all work toward understanding how our own personal journeys, beliefs, and perceptions affect our judgment of others. No-one has a right to decide the validity of another human being.
