Livingstone College is using its HBCU mission to create a pathway for students aging out of foster care. The Salisbury, North Carolina HBCU has partnered with Home4Me, a nonprofit focused on providing hope, opportunities, mentoring, and education for teens in foster care. —Through the H.O.P.E. Emancipation Project, qualified students can receive up to $35,000 in support, which may cover tuition, on-campus housing, meal plans, mental health services, and access to a dedicated success coach. The program is personal for Livingstone College President Dr. Anthony J. Davis, who is a survivor of the foster care system himself. Davis emancipated himself at 17 and later joined the United States Air Force.
