Fort Bend residents are receiving phone calls from scammers pretending to be cops who claim that residents need to pay fines for arrest warrants, citations and ongoing legal disputes, like lawsuits. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office is warning its residents of the new federal jury duty scam.
Scammers may use residents' full name, address or other personal information to try to pose as a sheriff's deputy. The sheriff's office is warning residents not to give out their personal information to these callers.
The sheriff's office said the agency will never call people to request payment for any reason. Still, scammers may use the names of sheriff's office employees and the agency's address to try to trick victims.
