Eleven restaurants, chefs and hospitality groups from the Houston area were named Wednesday as semifinalists for James Beard Awards, which are given annually to the top culinary professionals and dining establishments in the United States. There are 20 semifinalists in each category, and Houston is represented in seven of the 10 nationwide categories. This year's finalists will be announced on April 3, and the winners will be recognized on June 10 in Chicago at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony.
