U.S. Rep Sheila Jackson-Lee is not done with Houston after falling short in the mayoral run-offs on Saturday. Jackson-Lee announced Monday, she's running for reelection for Texas's 18th Congressional District.
The filing came shortly before the Monday 6 p.m. deadline to enter the 2024 Texas race. Jackson-Lee, 73, came up short with 34% of the votes to Senator John Whitmire's 65% during Saturday's runoff elections.
Jackson-Lee said in a statement that she plans to address better education for students, more affordable housing, improve quality of life for seniors, protect reproductive rights, and more.
