Students and parents continue to protest changes at Cage Elementary and Chrysalis Middle School in Houston’s east end, including the removal of two teachers who questioned district leadership in a meeting on Friday. Yesterday, a group of about 50 community members gathered for a second protest this week. 5th grader Jocelyn Saenz was in the crowd. She says she doesn’t like the changes to her school, especially the faster lessons and timed quizzes. Saenz says she’s learning less this year, and that it feels like her final year of elementary school is ruined. State-appointed superintendent Mike Miles says the reforms will improve student outcomes — even at schools like Cage and Chrysalis that have received good ratings from the Texas Education Agency. #Schools #HoustonISD #MikeMiles #EastEndHouston #Teachers #Students #Parents #Protests
