Every summer, Galveston throws a sandcastle competition where over 60 sculptures are assembled during the same day. The art pieces are judged based on the originality, difficulty, carving, execution and use of the site, according to Visit Galveston. This year, the sculpture resembling the loved “beautiful butterfly” character from A Bug’s Life won the Best Overall Award.
