Go Tejano Day became rodeohouston hottest ticket, accounting for more than half of the top 10 most-attended concerts. Vice Chairman of the Go Tejano Day Committee Bryan Mendoza says he feels honored to have the support of the community who has helped set this record. Which leads us to ask about the history of this event. “Go Tejano Day originally started in 1986 as a subcommittee of the Houston General Go Texan Day Committee.” Mendoza said. Originally named The Reata Committee, the founding members sought to celebrate the Hispanic culture. The committee officially opened in 1990 with Roberto Pulido, Emilio Navaira and Vikki Carr as the first Go Tejano Dat performers. This was the only sold-out concert that year.
