You’ve probably heard rumors about a potential state takeover of the Houston Independent School District.    TEA first tried to replace the elected school board with state-appointed managers in 2019. Houston ISD sued, and the move was held up in court until January.    Since then people have asked, what’s next? The head of TEA was asked about this on Tuesday.   “The streets – streets say a lot…” the education commissioner, Mike Morath, said. But the head of TEA said a decision hasn’t been made.   Here’s the thing: we don’t actually know what’s going to happen or when! TEA has a few options on the table, and it hasn’t confirmed what it will do or when. The bottom line is: at this point, a takeover is totally possible, but it’s still an unconfirmed rumor. 🎙️: Dominic Anthony Walsh / Family and Education Reporter 🎥 : Intern Janett Avalos 💻: Producer Daisy Espinoza/ Intern Janett Avalos #HouNews #TEA #HISD #houston #Education #texas #educationnews
