In the heart of Houston's East End, Little Red Box Grocery opened a few months ago as an effort to address the so-called food desert across the city. The store sells around 450 items so far, including fresh fruits and vegetables, along with other things that you might expect at a larger store. Founder Samuel Newman says "we want anyone to be able to walk in here and feel like this is a store for them."  The store accepts SNAP and EBT as a form of payment and it's a big deal for residents around the store, adding to about 20% of the store's sales. A store customer says "you have a nice little spot that we can come get vegetables, something that is good for your body." Newman is excited about his store and the benefits it brings to the community.
