Ottawa’s Most Wanted Homicide Suspect Arrested in Turkey After More Than a Year on the Run 😳🇨🇦🇹🇷 Ottawa Police say 29-year-old Gibriil Bakal has been arrested in Turkey in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Jama Roble. Roble was shot on Champagne Avenue South in Ottawa’s Little Italy neighbourhood on January 29, 2024. He was transported to hospital with critical injuries but later died, making it Ottawa’s first homicide of 2024. Police allege Bakal fled Canada following the shooting and became the subject of a Canada-wide warrant and international search. After more than a year on the run, authorities announced he had been located and arrested overseas. Ottawa Police credited international law enforcement partners for assisting in the arrest.
