At the @PEAKConference, Wayne Kimmel sat down with Marc Riccio, President of @USA_Lacrosse, to discuss how technology is helping shape the future of the sport.
In this clip, Marc explains how USA Lacrosse uses data and technology to analyze roughly 40 markets across the United States. The organization looks at factors like coach-to-player ratios, youth participation, census data, population movement, local programs, donors, members, and coaches to better understand where lacrosse has the strongest opportunity to grow.
That information is then run through an algorithm to help USA Lacrosse prioritize where to invest mission-based dollars. As Marc explains, if the goal is to provide access at the youth level, it is not enough to simply invest in a “lacrosse desert.” There needs to be a real pathway for kids to keep playing, developing, and staying connected to the game.
