A great white shark has been recorded in the Mediterranean for the first time, marking a rare and striking underwater sighting 🦈 The encounter was captured by divers from Healthy Seas while they were clearing ghost fishing nets near a shipwreck between Sicily and Tunisia. The footage is believed to be the first ever showing an adult great white in its natural Mediterranean habitat. The team was working in the Strait of Sicily when the predator appeared during the clean-up operation. Great whites are typically found in temperate and subtropical waters, including regions such as the northeast Pacific, southern Africa and parts of Oceania, making this sighting highly unusual. 🎥 Derk Remmers, Healthy Seas, Ghost Diving and SDSS
