Chase David Burns was born on January 16, 2003, in Naples, Italy, where his parents were stationed with the United States military. The right-handed pitcher grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee, and attended Beech Senior High School. Instead, Burns opted to play college baseball for the Tennessee Volunteers, making an immediate impact on the mound. As a freshman in 2022, he went 8-2 with a 2.91 ERA and earned Freshman Pitcher of the Year honors. During his sophomore season in 2023, he transitioned into a highly effective relief role and helped propel the Volunteers to the Men’s College World Series. Following that season, he transferred to Wake Forest University to play for the Demon Deacons. His 2024 junior season at Wake Forest was historic, as he went 10-1 with a 2.70 ERA in sixteen starts.
