The effects of a disaster don’t always end when the emergency is over. June is National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. Firefighters and first responders are exposed to situations that can have lasting impacts long after an incident ends. For survivors, families, and community members, the emotional impacts can last for months or years. PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. No one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone. We’re proud to have a dedicated Behavioral Health and Wellness Unit trained in peer support to offer resources, support, and guidance to our personnel when they need it most. We’re raising awareness to help reduce stigma, encourage conversations about mental health, and to show that seeking support is an important part of one’s overall well-being. #PTSDAwareness #MentalHealthAwareness #WildfireRecovery #FirstResponderLife calfirewellness
