Most people saw a painting of butter. 🧈 She saw a runway look. Inspired by Antoine Vollon’s “Mound of Butter,” fashion designer and Next in Fashion alum _meganocain transformed one of the National Gallery’s most unexpected artworks into a fashion design that’s equal parts inventive and stylish. Here’s the inspiration behind how she turned a pile of butter into couture: “I’d been feeling a little uninspired lately, so I wanted to find beauty and whimsy in something ordinary again. Antoine Vollon’s ‘Mound of Butter’ felt rich, excessive, and strangely romantic. I used taffeta to mimic the texture and richness of the butter, with layered curves and ruffles echoing the scale and all its abundant excess.” #OpenCall is the National Gallery’s creator campaign spotlighting artists from across the country reimagining works from the collection through original video. You can also see Megan’s work featured in a temporary installation at the museum later this year. #art #fashion #explorepage
