It looks like the Maple Leafs will be missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in the Auston Matthews era, especially in William Nylander's career. Nylander has been a Maple Leaf since the 2015-16 season after getting drafted in 2014, but he started off with the Toronto Marlies to further develop. Berube plans on using rookie winger Easton Cowan more down the road, likely moving him around to see who he fits with.
