Lady Pamela Hicks, one of Queen Elizabeth II’s closest lifelong friends and a bridesmaid at her 1947 wedding, has died at age 97.
The daughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten and first cousin to Prince Philip, Lady Pamela witnessed some of the most defining moments in modern royal history – from accompanying Princess Elizabeth on the fateful 1952 trip to Kenya that saw her become Queen to remaining a trusted friend for decades.
Paying tribute, her daughter, India Hicks, 58, wrote: “Whilst there is no tragedy in the death of a 97-year-old who has lived a full life, I know grief will be unavoidable... but today I am simply grateful that she was my mother” 🤍
