AI is about to leave the planet. Anthropic, Google, and SpaceX are all racing to build AI data centres in space. And it's already started. Here's why this is happening. AI needs two things — power and cooling. On Earth, data centres burn through massive amounts of electricity and water just to stop chips from overheating. Space solves both problems. Unlimited solar power, no grid. Freezing cold environment, free cooling. And it's not just an idea. A startup called Starcloud already flew an NVIDIA chip into orbit last year and trained a real AI model in space. Their next satellite carries 100 times more power. They've also made a deal with SpaceX to connect satellites using lasers — sending data between them at 25 gigabits per second.
