Happy Spring, Banana Slugs! 🌱 Have you ever visited a college garden on campus? What about all of them, in ONE day? 👀 From the freshly revived Stevenson Garden to the internationally renowned Alan Chadwick Garden, from Kresge’s legendary student-run co-op to Oakes’ food justice mission, UCSC’s college gardens are some of the most special spaces on the entire campus! Every one is student-run, rooted in its college’s themes, and open to anyone who wants to learn, volunteer, or just hang out under a fruit tree and by the flowers! Land Acknowledgment: The land on which these gardens grow is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.
