Minnesotans gathered at Como Park in St. Paul with singingresistancetc and savethebwca to advocate for permanent protections from copper sulfide mining near the BWCA. Last week the federal government failed Minnesotans by passing Joint Resolution 140, overturning the 20-year copper mining moratorium in the headwaters of the Boundary Waters. It is now up to the state. In Minnesota’s state government, there is legislation by Rep. Falconer and Sen. Cwodzinski in the House and Senate that could protect the area. Gov. Walz also has authority to at least delay mining. Please call the Governor and your state representatives asking for their support of the Boundary Waters.
