Amy Schwendemann is an award-winning educator who has dedicated 24 years to fostering hands-on, experiential science learning at Pattonville High School. Recognizing a curriculum gap for non-traditional STEM upperclassmen, she developed the highly successful Applied Science and Technology course in 2017, utilizing project-based learning to teach critical thinking and durable life skills.
Her commitment to real-world application is highlighted by strategic partnerships with the City of Maryland Heights and Waste Connections, which provide her students with a “living laboratory” in a professional greenhouse and sustainability campus to solve contemporary environmental challenges.
