Image of the week: Algal blooms in the Celtic Sea 🌊 Captured by the #Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellite on 25 May, the image shows phytoplankton blooms visible from space. These microscopic organisms produce over half Earth’s oxygen and help absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. The cyan colour is likely coccolithophores, a plant-like plankton found in large numbers in the upper layers of the ocean. Find out more at our website!
