Members of UNITE HERE Local 274 union are threatening to strike less than a week before the FIFA World Cup begins. The union, which represents about 4,000 private sector hotel and food service workers in the Philadelphia region, rallied outside the Sheraton Hotel on North 17th Street Friday afternoon. Union president Rosslyn Wuchinich says workers have been without a contract since 2024 and have been bargaining for more than a year. The city says it’s expecting more than half a million visitors to travel to the city during the World Cup.
