I'll never forget this Senior portrait session, and I'm sure Iris Rubinol won't either. We were at various downtown landmarks photographing cap and gown shots to celebrate this Liberty High School grad's achievements, when we heard protesters marching through the streets around us. Although somber images, they capture what Iris and so many graduates are experiencing as high school seniors. What's supposed to be an exciting transition in to their young adult lives, is instead the hard reality of entering adulthood with a global pandemic and racial injustices. But I believe with students like Iris who support equality for all, the future will be brighter because of her and thousands of Seniors alike.
