I've been thinking about this all day. I joined the #blackouttuesday to re-evaluate myself. Have I really done anything to combat racism? Do I call it out and educate those who need it? Have I shared information that can help bring meaningful and positive change? My conclusion: No. And it stings me. I'm sorry I didn't speak up when I should have. I know I love everyone regardless of their skin color, but I can't ignore my faults. I will admit that I haven't called out the racism happening around us. I see it on the news, on social media, and a few times I've personally experienced it myself. It was easier for me to ignore it because I couldn't find the courage to face it. But today, I see the faces of our young generation taking a stand and supporting real change in this Country. I am encouraged by the tenacity and strength of all ages and races, joining together for a common goal. They inspire me to do better.
