Since 2008, natgeopristineseas has helped create 31 of the world’s largest marine protected areas, covering 6.9 million square kilometers of ocean. These “national parks of the sea” restore marine life while increasing food security, strengthening economies, and building climate resilience. natgeopristineseas is more than halfway through their five-year Global Expedition in the remote tropical Pacific, where they are working alongside governments, local communities, and organizations to help safeguard the ocean through the creation of marine reserves.
