A 15-year-old girl was killed after she and her teen friend got hold of an unsecured gun and it fired in a Southeast D.C. apartment. The occupant of the apartment was arrested on firearms charges.⁠ ⁠ Two 15-year-olds were alone in an apartment on Barnaby Street SE when they started playing with an unsecured firearm, police said. The firearm then went off, striking one of them in the head.⁠ ⁠ News4 spoke to a woman who said she’s a family friend of the teen who allegedly was holding the gun when it fired. She asked to remain unnamed.⁠ ⁠ “I believe that this, at this time, we need to do awareness to our kids.
