A 15-year-old was shot and killed Saturday night when she and her friend, also 15, got a hold of an unsecured gun. It happened just before 7 p.m. while they were alone in an apartment on Barnaby Street SE in the Washington Highlands area. They were alone inside an apartment when they found the unsecured firearm, and as they began to play with it, the gun went off. Interim Chief of Police Jeffrey Carroll, who came to the scene, said one girl was shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A resident of the apartment the shooting took place in will be charged for having an unsecured illegal firearm. #washingtondc #dc #southeastdc
