Created by Mojoptix, this 3D printed sundial can display time in 20 minute intervals without using any batteries or electronics. Its internal geometry was calculated with computer algorithms so specific rays of sunlight form digits only at the correct times. The design is open source, allowing anyone with a 3D printer to build one. It demonstrates how physical structures can perform computations using light alone.
