For retired nurse Cheryl Dalton, tutoring aspiring Americans for their citizenship exams has given her a new opportunity to give back.
"I have empathy and compassion for people who are coming to America and trying to just make a way," Cheryl said. "I think it's scary, and I think they need people to walk alongside them."
From her work in public health and her various medical mission trips, Cheryl has always had a strong drive to learn about people from different cultures. Today, as a tutor, she uses that drive to walk alongside lawful permanent residents like Raven Samantha, a project manager from Costa Rica preparing for her U.S. citizenship exam.
