June is one of the most beautiful times to camp in Ontario. The forests are lush, the lakes are stunning, the days are longer, and the weather is just right. But it also happens to be peak mosquito season.
Before you book that dream campsite, be prepared:
* Pack bug spray (and reapply often)
* Wear light-coloured long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk
* Bring a bug jacket or head net if youāre heading into wooded areas
* Keep tent doors zipped at all times
* Check for ticks after hikes, especially in tall grass
Here are a few more things to keep in mind before booking:
* Water nearby - Campgrounds near lakes, marshes, wetlands, swamps, or slow-moving rivers usually have more mosquitoes.
