The American Wrestling Federation ran from 1994 to 1996 on syndicated television across the United States as paid programming. In many cities, the show aired on Saturday afternoon. Founded by Chicago businessman Paul Alperstein, the AWF roster included Tito Santana, Sgt. Slaughter, Nailz, Greg Valentine, Bob Orton Jr., Koko B. Ware, Tony Atlas, Hercules, Don Muraco, The Warlord, The Road Warriors, The Honky Tonk Man, Doink the Clown, Tom Zenk, Tommy Rich, Chris Adams, and Jim Powers. Managers included General Adnan and Oliver Humperdink. Lord Alfred Hayes, Terry Taylor, and Missy Hyatt handled commentary and interviews. Jim Brunzell served as AWF Commissioner. Bill Alfonso refereed. Matches were contested in four minute rounds like boxing. Tito Santana was both the first and last AWF Heavyweight Champion.
