In Oracle Bone Script, wind was not an abstract idea. It was a visible force. A record of moving air, shifting directions, and the invisible things that cannot be held, yet undeniably exist. The character for person 人, began as the image of a standing human figure seen from the side. Over thousands of years, the body was gradually reduced to two simple strokes, yet traces of movement remain embedded within it. The Wind Catcher was born somewhere between these two ancient Chinese characters. One speaks of wind. One speaks of a human being. One represents the invisible forces of nature. The other, the body that senses and responds to them. The project is called The Wind Catcher. The gesture comes from the ancient Chinese character for wind, but also from the Taiji practice of holding an imaginary sphere between the hands. For me, it is not only about wind or air.
