Unmask the Silent Villain: Raising Awareness on Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty Liver Disease is increasingly becoming a major public health concern, affecting a significant proportion of the population, often without any noticeable symptoms. If left undetected and unmanaged, it can progress to serious liver conditions, including fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver failure.
To mark Global Fatty Liver Day 2026, VPS Lakeshore Hospital organised a public awareness programme bringing together experts from Gastroenterology and Hepatology to discuss the growing burden of fatty liver disease and the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and timely intervention.
The experts highlighted that risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, unhealthy dietary habits, physical inactivity and alcohol consumption contribute significantly to the development of fatty liver.
