Preview Invitation: ‘Yoko Matsumoto: Gazed at by Nature’ at White Cube Seoul⁠ (Wednesday 17 June 2026, 5–7pm) Attesting to a lifelong negotiation between two worlds, Yoko initially worked with water-based acrylic paint for its likeness to East Asian sumi ink, before going on to master the medium of oil paint, so integral to Western art history and tradition. In an essay commissioned to accompany the exhibition, art historian Reiko Tomii writes: ‘She has unified the spirits and methods of these two mediums to luminous effect.
