I just applied for my Portuguese citizenship thanks to their Golden visa program, which grants residency in Portugal via investments. The rules have changed in the past couple of years, but the program is still active, though there are different investment vehicles and thresholds (you can no longer buy real estate to qualify). Portugal also has one of the more lenient pathways to citizenship - when I applied it was 5 years of residency, and a year of residency requires spending just one week (!) a year in Portugal. The government is in the process of changing that to 10 years, but for those who want a longterm pathway to EU citizenship and can afford the investment, it is still an option- just don’t expect it quickly. There are other programs that offer residency for less- like Greece and Panama. I used The Mercan Group for my investment and they’ve been incredible- advising me along the way and helping cut through the bureaucracy. If you’re interested in foreign residency/citizenship...
