Glendale police say a man who snatched an elderly woman’s purse outside Walmart was tracked down using cameras and drone technology. Police say the woman was walking into the Walmart near 55th and Northern avenues when the suspect followed behind her, grabbed her purse, and ran through the parking lot. The victim said the purse had $840 inside, including money she needed for her pills. Glendale’s Real Time Crime Center later tracked the suspect less than a mile away, where police say he changed license plates, reversed from officers, ran through neighbors’ yards, changed clothes, and was eventually arrested. Authorities say the woman’s purse was found in the trunk of his car, along with cocaine and drug paraphernalia. This is exactly why people want cameras up… but it’s also why people argue about them.
