A Gilbert teen is too young to get his driver’s license, but he’s already driving race cars professionally. 14-year-old mechelkeracing competes in the IMSA Mazda MX-5 Cup Series, racing against older drivers while balancing school at ASU Prep Digital. He can hit speeds up to 100 MPH on the track and hopes to race in NASCAR or the 24 Hours of Le Mans one day.
