A Phoenix man is facing multiple arson charges after police say he intentionally started several fires at his apartment complex after receiving eviction paperwork.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Christopher Everhart is accused of setting three separate fires at Alta Vista Village Apartments near 39th Avenue and Grand Avenue between March and June.
Police say one fire was started in a leasing office drop box, another in a laundry room, and the most recent fire on June 8 destroyed an apartment unit and displaced nearby residents.
Investigators say Everhart admitted to starting the fires because he was upset about his family’s eviction. He now faces three counts of arson of an occupied structure.
What would you do if a neighbor intentionally put your entire apartment complex at risk?
