A family is mourning 31-year-old Gilbert Garcia after he passed away following a 40-foot fall on South Mountain. Phoenix fire officials say Garcia was hiking near the Mormon Trail with a family member when he fell from the trail and suffered critical injuries. Crews climbed down the mountainside, brought him back up, and rushed him to the hospital, where he later passed away.
