An 8-year-old boy was rescued earlier this year after a human smuggling investigation led deputies to stop a vehicle in Pinal County.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, investigators had been tracking a suspected smuggling operation that began in Cochise County before the vehicle was eventually stopped as part of a multi-agency effort.
Recently released body camera footage shows deputies speaking with the child moments after the stop, asking if he would come with them.
Authorities say the child was later turned over to federal officials, and investigators believe the operation may have prevented him from being placed in a much more dangerous situation.
The newly released video is giving people another look at the realities law enforcement faces along Arizona’s border corridors.
