Here’s what we learned from Baby Keem’s new interview 👀👇
He admitted that “16” was actually created during the ‘DIE FOR MY B*TCH’ era and intentionally held back because he believed it belonged on a bigger project. Looking back now, it’s wild considering the song eventually became one of the defining records on The Melodic Blue 💿
Keem also revealed that parts of The Melodic Blue date back to when he was 18-19 years old, meaning some of the album was shaped during his final teenage years before it was ever released. He described the project as a collection of ideas and experiences carried with him into adulthood.
There were a few hidden gems too. According to Keem, Steve Lacy has background vocals and ad-libs buried within “Dramatic Girl,” a detail many fans never noticed. He also explained that production is still the first thing he listens for in music, saying that if a beat doesn’t grab him, he doesn’t really care what’s being said on top of it 🤷♂️
